If your kids are anything like mine, they LOVE helping in the kitchen. Sometimes this can be frustrating if you are trying to rush to get dinner ready and they want to be “helpful”. However, if you set aside a little time one afternoon to do an actual cooking project with them, you will both get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Cooking is one of my favorite fun things for kids to do.

My mother-in-law is a school teacher and always gets great deals on books. She gave us this super fun “Silly Snacks” book a while back that my kids LOVE drooling over. They go through each page and say whether they want to make both or just one of the recipes on it. It keeps them occupied for quite some time before we even start cooking. Haha.
Well for weeks they begged me to start making the recipes but we never had all of the right ingredients. So finally I told my son to write me a grocery list for their favorite recipes since I was going to the store that day anyway. He faithfully checked to see which ingredients we already had, and wrote down the rest of them on a paper for me. (This boy is FIVE YEARS OLD by the way). I bought all of the ingredients and promised to make the recipe with him that evening.
That night, I was putting my new baby down to sleep and it was taking quite a while. I guess my son got tired of waiting for me to help him. When I came upstairs he had THIS already created:

I have a sweet, smart boy … and let me tell you, this kept him busy for quite a while! And the whole family enjoyed eating it. So fun
